Mikasa and Eren, two characters with a complex but loving relationship, have grown up together. Being an Ackerman and the Oriental clan, Mikasa is someone who has had distinctive physical features ever since she was a child. As fans will remember, she was attacked by thugs who wanted to sell her because of her distinct features when she was a kid.

However, Mikasa was saved by Eren as a young girl, who also gave her the courage to stand up and fight for her life even though she had watched her mother die right before her eyes. Since then, Mikasa has always been grateful to have Eren in her life since he gave her the strength to fight and expresses her gratitude in peculiar ways, including protecting him from any danger that befalls him.

In fact, Mikasa is so overprotective that Eren can often be seen getting irritated with her smothering nature and saying things like, "don't treat me like your little brother." However, Mikasa and Eren are the same age. In Season 1, Mikasa and Eren are 10 years old as they watch the death and destruction caused by the Titans, with one of them even eating Eren's mother.

The series then proceeds to show us the next 5 years of their lives as they join the Survey Corps and begin joining them on expeditions beyond the walls. In Season 3, Eren and Mikasa are 15 years old. Moving on to Season 4, the series features a 4 year time jump where we see our favorite characters all grown up. In Season 4, Eren and Mikasa are both 19 years old.
