Good Boy is set to premiere on May 31, 2025, with weekly episodes airing every Saturday and Sunday at 22:40 KST on JTBC. International audiences can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
The series will be available for domestic streaming on Netflix, Disney+, TVING, and Coupang Play. The world premiere will be held in Thailand on the same day, with lead actors Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, and Lee Sang-yi in attendance.
Good Boy is a comic action drama that follows a team of former medal-winning athletes who trade their medals for badges, becoming police officers through a special recruitment program. Thrust into a corrupt and dangerous world, they use their athletic skills to tackle violent crime and fight against powerful criminal organizations.
Park Bo-gum stars as Yoon Dong Joo, a former national boxing team member who joins the force with a deep sense of justice. Despite the challenges of his new life, he doesn’t hesitate to raise his fists once again to stand up against injustice. Joining him are Ji Han-na, Kim Jong-hyeon, Ko Man-sik, and Shin Jae-hong, forming a rag-tag squad determined to bring down a major crime syndicate.
Oh Jung-se takes on the role of Min Ju Young, a seemingly ordinary customs officer who secretly controls Inseong City from the shadows. Known for immersing himself in every role, Oh brings a chilling subtlety to the villain. He described Min Ju Young as, “He’s not just a monster in a drama — he’s [the kind of person who resembles those who] existed before, still exists among us today, and will continue to live and breathe around us in the future. A real-life monster with an ordinary face” (via skjbollywoodnews).
Discussing his approach to the character, Oh shared, “Rather than declaring ‘I’m the bad guy’ outright, I wanted to develop the character [in a way that it feels] like peeling an onion — layer by layer — so that viewers keep wondering, ‘What kind of villain is he?’ and ‘How far can he go?’”
He added, “I wanted to express the most extreme transformation through the subtlest of changes. My aim was to reveal the essence of Min Ju Young — the most grotesque monster with the most ordinary face.”
Even his appearance was crafted with precision—Min Ju Young dresses neatly in luxurious clothes, masking his violent tendencies. Oh particularly emphasized one of the character’s chilling lines: “I don’t quite remember,” saying it reminded him of real-life power figures who lie on public platforms: “Monsters who commit crimes while hiding behind power and capital still exist among us. We will continue to live alongside such monsters in the future, and we must remember them, hold them accountable, and keep them in check.”
The central conflict of Good Boy revolves around the intense clash between Yoon Dong Joo's idealistic pursuit of justice and Min Ju Young’s cold, calculated evil. Oh reflected on this dynamic, “Min Ju Young may seem like a dry person who goes through life with ease, but his violence surfaces from time to time. I wanted to provoke Yoon Dong Joo even more, so I tried to express his violence as intensely as possible within the limits of what could be shown in the drama.”
Speaking of his on-screen chemistry with Park Bo-gum, Oh shared with a smile, “What can I say! I just wanted to get caught by him — quickly, thrillingly, and with great satisfaction. He’s a fellow actor from whom I could learn a lot.”
Good Boy promises a gripping blend of action, comedy, and layered character conflicts as these unlikely heroes rise once more—this time not for medals, but for justice.
The Good Boy Kdrama trailer kicks off with a nostalgic glimpse into the golden days of five celebrated athletes, once basking in glory on the international stage. Cheers erupt, medals shine, and victory fills the screen—until everything changes.
The mood quickly shifts to show their sobering present: Yoon Dong-joo, once famed for his knockout punches, now naps in a cramped patrol car mid-shift. Ji Han-na, whose aim never missed, forces a smile as she hides her sadness behind her new uniform.
The most unexpected moment comes when Shin Jae-hong, a former discus champion, is seen sweating it out in a bulky police mascot costume, waving on a street corner. The trailer uses these visuals to underscore the fall from fame and the struggle of starting over.
But just when it feels like all hope is lost, a sinister presence begins to stir in Inseong City—one that demands heroes. Enter the “Goodvengers,” as the group reunites and gears up to face injustice head-on.
The Good Boy Kdrama trailer ends on a powerful note, with Yoon Dong-joo declaring, “Until you’ve crushed your opponent, the round isn’t over.” With just 50 seconds, the trailer delivers a punch of action, heart, and humor. Watch the full trailer below.
