Way of the Househusband Live-Action Film Cast, Release, Trailer, and More

A live-action film based on the slice of life anime series, The Way of the Househusband (Gokushufudo), is releasing soon! The official Twitter account for the film, based on the series, unveiled several details. Furthermore, the live-action film has officially been titled, Gokushufudo: The Cinema. The series was adapted into a live-action television drama by Nippon TV in 2020.

A Netflix original net animation anime series produced by J.C.Staff was released in April 2021. The second part debuted globally on Netflix on October 7.

MyAnimeList's description for the Way of the Househusband anime series reads:

"Who would have ever thought that the most feared gangster of his time now spends his days as a modest househusband? Seemingly giving up the way of the yakuza, the legendary "Immortal Dragon" Tatsu, best known for his prolific skirmishes against rival gangs, has abruptly vanished. Unbeknownst to most, however, Tatsu is currently staying at an apartment with his wife, doing his best to live a peaceful life.

Donning his trusty apron, Tatsu is now striving to become an efficient homemaker. Because of this, he has mastered the required skills—be it cooking the most delicious dishes, making sure to get the best deals at supermarkets, and everything in between—garnering the surprise of both of his former subordinates and enemies alike. Despite being a man with quite a controversial past, Tatsu's new way of life will only be more eccentric from here on out!"

Way of the Househusband Live-Action Release, Trailer, Cast and More

The live-action Househusband film titled, Gokushufudo: The Cinema is set for a summer 2022 release. A specific release date has not yet been announced. However, among the recent announcements, two posters and a trailer has been released!

The cast members from the manga's previous live-action series are reprising their roles for the film, including Hiroshi Tamaki as Tatsu, Haruna Kawaguchi as Miku, and Jun Shison as Masa. Additional returning cast members for the film include Tamaki Shiratori as Himawari, Naoto Takenaka as Kikujiro Eguchi, Izumi INamori as Ibari, Kenichi Takito as Torajiro, Yuta Furukawa as Sakai, Junpei Yasui as Sadogashima, Tina Tamashiro as Yukari, MEGUMI as Tanaka, and Michiko Tanaka as Ota.

Director Toichiro Ruto, who also helmed the live-action series, has also returned for the upcoming film.
