What is the plot of Untamed?
Untamed is a gripping, character-driven mystery thriller set in the majestic yet menacing expanse of Yosemite National Park. The series centers on Kyle Turner, a seasoned special agent with the elite Investigative Services Branch of the National Parks Service. When a grisly death disrupts the natural peace, Turner is thrust into an investigation that exposes sinister truths buried both in the wilderness and his own past.
As the case unfolds, Turner is joined by rookie ranger Naya Vasquez, a former Los Angeles cop seeking a fresh start in Yosemite with her young son. Her outsider perspective brings a unique lens to the sprawling park. “Because Vasquez is new to the park, we get to see the park through her eyes,” co-showrunner Elle Smith tells Tudum. “We get to understand what this job is, and see the beauty of the park, but also the dangers,” Smith adds.
The show delves deep into the clash between nature’s chaos and the human systems that try to control it. “Everyone thinks of Yosemite as this beautiful place with all the vistas and all the scenery,” says Smith. “But we were trying to touch on the dangers that are just beyond that,” Smith adds.
