By Nitish Singh / September 11, 2018

With the Twitch app on PS4 receiving a massive redesign last year, the Xbox version of the app is finally set to receive the same redesign. An update has gone live for the Microsoft Insiders test group and there are a couple of important features packed into it.

The Twitch app for Xbox is now getting access to live video previews. You can browse the app while being able to preview streams without heading to the stream’s landing page. The feature was heavily requested as it allows users to check out gameplay via thumbnails without being forced to redirect to the home page to continue browsing.

Twitch chat logs will now be available for viewing in offline videos. If you head to past broadcasts or download streams for offline viewing, you will be able to go through the viewer chat window with live interactions and emotes as it happened on past streams. 6,500 kbps bitrate support has also been added which should offer a much smoother streaming experience for most users.

The Twitch app is also receiving a number of performance updates to improve the viewing experience. In terms of functionality the PS4 and Xbox versions of the app are now very closely matched and the performance improvements in the new update. Insider users report that the menus are smooth and transitions have no lag whatsoever. Some users also report that the Twitch app is now smoother than some of Microsoft’s own apps. Low-latency streaming has also been added to the app according to reports.

If you want to try out the app before it comes out for all users. You can sign up for the Insider program and download it to your Xbox console to try out all the new features Twitch has to offer.
