What is the plot of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf show?

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is an espionage thriller that dives deep into the origin story of Ben Edwards, chronicling his evolution from a Navy SEAL to a CIA operative entrenched in the shadowy side of Special Operations.

Set before the events of The Terminal List, the series explores the moral complexity and emotional fallout of covert warfare, emphasizing authenticity in everything from tactics to psychological nuance. Veterans contribute both on-screen and behind the scenes, grounding the series in realism and respect for the brotherhood it portrays.

The prequel centers on Edwards’ transition after being discharged from the SEALs, a moment Kitsch describes to USA Today as life-altering: “One split-second decision changed the course of his life. You're not only stripping the bird off his chest, you're stripping away a piece of who this guy is and his purpose."

As the story unfolds, audiences will see how Edwards was recruited into the CIA, built his bond with James Reece, and eventually became entangled in the very conspiracy that shattered Reece’s world.

Though Reece appears in a limited guest role, his presence looms large—especially considering that in season one, he ultimately kills Edwards upon discovering his betrayal. “This is the origin story,” Kitsch told USA Today. “There was so much heat around Edwards with that twist and all these questions about how. You're going to learn a heck of a lot more about who Ben really is and these twists and turns that led to that decision,” Kitsch added.

Author Jack Carr also praised the evolution of the character, saying, “[Ben] was done much better in the series than I did in the novel.” Kitsch added, “My Ben is not the Ben that Jack Carr wrote... I said that ‘If you let me make him my own, then I'll take a swing with you.’ And they were all for it.”

The prequel concept was originally pitched by Chris Pratt himself, and will directly tie into season two of the main series, especially through the introduction of Mohammed Farooq—an important antagonist from the book True Believer, which the next season will adapt.
