The Last of Us season 2 has come to an end, and unlike the first season, this one has been a mixed bag. The finale showed Abby confronting Ellie at the theater after shooting Jesse. With her gun pointed at Tommy lying in a heap on the ground, she commands Ellie to come out of hiding. Ellie does and confesses that she was the one who killed her friends and not Tommy.Â
She also reveals that she is the immune girl and that Joel killed the fireflies to save her, Abby says that she let her live and she wasted it. She then points the gun at Ellie and shoots. The screen cuts to black as the shot rings out. So, what happens next? Does Ellie die in The Last of Us?Â
No, Ellie doesn’t die in The Last of Us Part 2 video game. In the video game, the confrontation scene also plays out between Abby and Ellie almost exactly the same way. She also goes to shoot Ellie, but Tommy gets up and pushes her, deflecting her shot. She then shoots Tommy in the shoulder. A gun fight ensues, but Ellie escapes. Â
Even if they change the scene in the show, the outcome will remain the same, and Ellie will live. The video game shows a further confrontation between Abby and Ellie with Dina. Abby almost kills them both but ultimately lets them go. This results in Ellie and Dina moving away to live on a farm. That scene hasn’t been done yet, and season 3 will probably be the one where we will see that.Â
The Last of Us season 3 will follow Abby Anderson’s story, as viewers will get to know her motivations for killing Joel better. We will also see her companions and the people she surrounds herself with. In The Last of Us Part 2 video game, we play as Ellie first, and then we take control of Abby.Â
The show is clearly going for that with season 2 being focused on Ellie and season 3 being focused on Abby. In the game we see the theater fight from Ellie’s POV and then again from Abby’s POV when we play as her. So, it will be interesting to see how the show handles Abby and how much it departs from the game.Â
