"Yoshikazu Miyano's troubles first start one hot summer day when Shuumei Sasaki steps into his life. Sasaki saves Miyano's classmate from a group of bullies, and after that, Miyano cannot seem to shake off his eccentric upperclassman. His silent admiration for Sasaki gradually sours into annoyance each time the so-called delinquent refuses to leave him alone. Constantly being called by cute nicknames and having his boundaries ignored, Miyano wonders why Sasaki wants to get close to him.
The shy and easily flustered Miyano harbors an embarrassing secret—he is a "fudanshi," a boy who likes boys' love (BL) manga. The last thing he wants is for other students to find out, but through a slip of the tongue, he reveals the truth to Sasaki. Intrigued, the clueless Sasaki asks to borrow a book to read, which he is given very reluctantly. Episode 5 of Sasaki To Miyano, titled "Bit By Bit,"Â began with Miyano participating in an event, after which he hangs out with his friend Kuresawa for a while. The two share an adorable conversation, expressing their interests to one another. Once Kuresawa leaves, Sasaki finds Miyano, and the duo discusses the BL manga they've both read.
Miyano is excited when Sasaki mentions "moe" and "uke." Unable to hold his feelings back, Sasaki confesses how he feels about Miyano but is interrupted midway by Kuresawa. Sasaki doubts his actions and begins to wonder if he's doing the right thing by acknowledging his feelings.
On the other hand, Miyano thinks about the confession he just received from his senior. He starts to think about how he's always been teased for having effeminate looks and how hard he has always tried to change the perception about him. He remembers the time he grew bangs to look "less girly" and how he wore a mask to school to cover his face. He wonders if Sasaki only likes him because of these features.
