One Piece Chapter 1040 Release Date, Time, and Where to Read
The previous chapter saw Momonosuke trying to keep Onigashima from reaching the Flower Capital by using Kaido's Flame Clouds to pull it back. After a little bit of a struggle, he seems to have some success, but before he can complete the task, he hears someone calling him. Back on the field, Law and Kid knockdown Big Mom, shocking everyone.
While Big Mom is still down, Law and Kid argue about who should land the final blow. The two have a funny altercation, each trying to best the other. Big Mom rises to her feet during their quarrel even though her bones are broken. She uses up some "life" to repair the damage while acknowledging Law's technique's danger. Law tells Kid that the next attack will be his last since he doesn't have any strength, while Kid once again argues over being told what to do.
Big Mom then lands a powerful attack on Kid's metal bull by combining the powers of Napoleon, Hera, and Prometheus. When Kid brushes off the attack as nothing, Big Mom tells him that she's sent others just like them to the bottom of the sea, mentioning how the Emperors have ruled for decades before the new generation of pirates. Cutting her speech short, Kid sends Big Mom flying into a nearby tower and pinning her in place, and proceeds to attack her once again.
However, Big Mom uses the tower stuck to her back as a shield to block the attack! While Kid is shocked at this defense, an enraged Big Mom launches the "Mother's Visit Cannon: 3,000 Leagues of Misery" spell that transforms into a giant woman. However, she fails to notice a large piece of rubble floating above her head thanks to Law's ability. He soon sends the debris crashing down on Big Mom, who's knocked down once again. Law then jumps into the air and activates his Anesthesia ability before plunging the sword into Big Mom's chest.
Big Mom loses her mind, beating him with her fists while Law ignores her, telling himself that the blade must go deeper. Big Mom orders him to listen to her as Law's crew calls for him to get away or he will die. Overlooking everyone's pleas, Law unleashes a Puncture Wille attack, sending shockwaves down through the blade and creating a hole in the ground beneath the island. Law's attack causes a considerable amount of damage to Big Mom along with the earth, confusing Momonosuke, who watches the crater form from above.
Meanwhile, Yamato is equally confused at the new hole in the castle. Big Mom prepares another misery attack for Law while the latter calls out to Kid, telling him to attack now. While in the air, Kid prepares a cannon attack, all while continuing to argue with Law for bossing him around. Big Mom refuses to admit defeat, saying she cannot lose since she's "BIG MOM" however, Kid smiles and fires the cannon while Law tells Big Mom that her era is over.
The latest chapter didn't feature our favorite straw hat protagonist or give any information about what happened to Zoro. However, with Kid and Law's battle against Big Mom finished, we can prepare for Luffy vs. Kaido. Read on to find out when the next chapter of One Piece comes out.
