Komi Can’t Communicate Season 2 Release Date Announced

Komi-san might not communicate well, but that won't stop her from returning to our screens for a second season! The Komi Can't Communicate anime series has quickly become one of the most popular coming-of-age romantic comedies. The first season of the anime adaptation by OLM aired in 2021, from October through December. Fans have been waiting for a second season ever since, and it seems that the series is finally ready to deliver.

Tomohito Oda's Komi Can't Communicate manga series was launched in Weekly Shonen Sunday in May 2016. Oda launched the series after first publishing a one-shot version of the manga in September 2015. As of December 2021, the Komi Can't Communicate manga had over 6 million copies in circulation. Fans can check out the manga on Viz Media's official website, publishing the series in English.

Fans unfamiliar with the series can watch the first season on Netflix. The manga also inspired a live-action series on September 6 on NHK General's "Yorudora" late-night drama block.

According to the latest update, Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 is slated to release on April 6, 2022, at 12:00 AM JST. The original story focuses on an awkward high-school beauty named Komi, who becomes immensely popular upon joining the school. The series is a hilarious slice-of-life anime that follows Komi to learn how to speak with others.

Miku Ito is performing the second opening theme song, Ao 100 Iro (100 Blue Colors). Moreover, FantasticYouth will perform the series' second ending, Koshaberi Biyori (Fine Day for Small Talk). In addition, the website also revealed an additional cast member who will join the series in the second season.

Shin'ichiro Kamio will join the cast of Komi Can't Communicate Season 2 as Makoto Katai. Makoto, like Komi-san, is also bad at communicating. During summer vacation, he exercised and dyed his hair, causing him to look like a delinquent. Check out the character design below:

Viz Media, which releases the manga series in English, describes the story as:

"Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that's just the way he likes it. But all that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn't aloof—she's just super awkward. Now he's made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends!"
